TRS Custom M54 Tuning
The M54B30 is legendary for its reliability and all-around performance, used in the X5 to the Z4 and everything in between. However, in terms of outright performance, it's always lived in the shadow of its race-derived S54 sibling.
Now that S54-powered cars have skyrocketed in price, the M54 is the best affordable option for track cars and Sunday drivers alike. We wanted to set about creating a custom tune that offers both everyday drivability together with a more involving and enjoyable experience when pushing on.
Drivability
We've done hours of development both on road, on Track, at the Nurburgring and everywhere in between. We spend just as much time getting to the track that we did on it, so day-to-day drivability is a key area to focus on. Thanks to our unique Vanos tuning developed from our S54 tuning we've created a significant torque increase at low RPM, resulting in both better drivability and smoother high-speed cruising without the need to change down a gear as often. Increased torque can often result in an increase in fuel economy, although different driving styles will affect this.
Fast road/Track
We found the standard M54 to be a little lacklustre when worked hard to the redline, a world apart from the razor-sharp S54. Because of this, we set about closing the gap. We've given the M54 some high-end urgency that was really missing before, ultimately resulting in a more motorsport-inspired rev-happy engine that encourages you to rev all the way to the increased redline.
We've worked on the pedal response too, creating the most intuitive, sharp pedal with no dead spots. We've sculpted the pedal response to match what a cable-operated pedal would. This gives you the most linear pedal feel and the most throttle adjustability when you're pushing on.
Figures
With our custom M54 tuning power is increased to 245-250BHP and 330NM of torque when using 99RON fuel.

Our price includes running on our in house hub dyno giving you both before and after figures.
