Ford Fiesta Engine Oil
Engine Oil Type
- Daily use - 5W/30 Ford specification WSS-M2C948-B. Eg. Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start 5W/20 (petrol engines)
- Personally we use and recommend 5W30 & 5W40, mainly because of temperatures and how the majority of cars we deal with are tuned for more power. Our track car for instance uses 5W40.
Engine Oil Capacity (including oil filter)
- 4.1 litres (1.6 litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engines)
Oil Drain Plug Torque
- 28 Nm( 1.6 litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engines)
Fiesta gearbox Oil Change
Manual Transmission Fluid
- SAE 75W FE gear oil Ford specification WSD-M2C200-D2 API GL-4 fully synthetic. Eg, Castrol Syntrans FE 75W
- We use Royal Purple 75W90 Max Gear in our track car, purely because it is one of the best gearbox oils you can use on the market. Under stress and heat it out performs the rest.
Manual Transmission Fluid Capacity
- 2.3 litres
Manual Transmission Fluid Filler/Level Plug Torque
- 35 Nm
Fiesta Coolant Replacement
Coolant Type
- 50/50 mix of water and Motorcraft SuperPlus pink/red antifreeze Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D
Coolant System Capacity
- 5.8 litres
Ford Fiesta ST Service Intervals
Every 6000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.
- Renew the engine oil and filter
Note: Ford recommends that the engine oil and filter are changed every 12500 miles or 12 months. However, oil and filter changes are good for the engine, and we recommend that the oil and filter are renewed more frequently, especially if the car is used on a lot of short journeys.
Every 12,500 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first
In addition to the items listed above, carry out the following:
- Renew the pollen filter, where applicable
- Check all components, pipes and hoses for fluid leaks
- Check the condition of the auxiliary drivebelt
- Check the antifreeze/inhibitor strength
- Check and if necessary adjust the handbrake
- Check the condition of the exhaust system components
- Check the condition and operation of the seat belts
- Lubricate all hinges and locks
- Check the front brake pads and discs for wear
- Check the rear brake shoes and drums for wear
- Check the steering and suspension components for condition and security
- Check the condition of the driveshaft gaiters
- Check the roadwheel nuts are tightened to the specified torque
- Carry out a road test
Every 37,500 miles or 3 years, whichever comes first
In addition to the items listed above, carry out the following:
- Renew the spark plugs
- Renew the air filter
- Check the brake lines (we recommend upgrading to HEL Performance braided brake lines for better braking performance, backed up with lifetime warranty.
Every 62,500 miles
In addition to the items listed above, carry out the following:
- Renew the timing belt and tensioner
- Note: Although the normal interval for timing belt renewal is 100,000 miles or 8 years, it is strongly recommended that the interval suggested above is observed, especially on cars which are subjected to intensive use, ie, track use or short journeys or a lot of stop-start driving. The actual belt renewal interval is very much up to the individual owner, but bear in mind that severe engine damage will result if the belt breaks so it’s always best to be safe than sorry!
Every 2 years, regardless of mileage
- Renew the brake fluid (Motul RBF600/660 is what we would recommend this has a higher boiling point than DOT 5.1 and exceeds what you should ever need on road and perfect for track use. We personally use RBF660 in our track car due to how it copes with the high temperature on track.
- Check the manual transmission fluid level
- Renew the remote control battery
- Renew the coolant
Note: Ford state that, if their purple Super Plus antifreeze is in the system from new, the coolant need only be changed every 10 years. If there is any doubt as to the type or quality of the antifreeze which has been used, we recommend this shorter interval be observed.
